Xerox DUCUCOLOR 2000 series digital color printers are available in 2 models, DOCUCOLOR 2045 and DOCUCOLOR 2060.
The development of the DOCUCOLOR 2000 series began three years ago and uses technology similar to that of the DOCUCOLOR 12 digital color press introduced by the company last year.
DOCUCOLOR 2045 printing speed is 45 pages per minute, DUCUCOLOR 2060 printing speed is 60 pages per minute. The above speed refers to the speed of single-sided printing. This series of machines can be double-sided printing, speed is half of the non-vertical printing.
The series has a resolution of 600 DPI and a color depth of 10 BIT/pixel. 8BIT controls the color of the image, and 2BIT controls the characteristics of the specific image pixels. The paper range of these two models is much larger than DUCUCOLOR 40. It can print thicker paper like coated paper, while DOCUCOLOR 40 can only print non-coated paper. Xerox has done a lot of work with paper suppliers to ensure that their equipment can print any paper used by offset presses.
The 2000 series uses Xerox's IBT (Intermediate Transfer Belt) technology, which is now called digital blanket technology. The technology was first applied to the DOCUCOLOR 12 machine. By imaging the four colors on the digital blanket and transferring the images to the substrate at one time, the image quality and machine reliability were effectively improved. Digital leather-like cloth technology not only improves the accuracy of registration, but also makes the printed image more exquisite, and the printing materials are more widely adapted.
Another new technology of Xerox is I-TRACS, which can analyze and process the various elements on the page to improve the printing quality. It uses the additional 2 BIT data in each pixel to identify text, lines, and images and handle them separately. For example, it can use different dot technologies for different parts of a page. I-TRACS can automatically check every printed image and make timely adjustments to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the color quality by using a miniature spectrophotometer according to defined criteria.
Both EFI and SPLASH provide standard RIP for DOCUCOLOR 2000, and SCITEX also announced the SPIRE RIP for this series.
DOCUCOLOR 2000 was launched in the United States and Europe in April and included EFI RIP prices ranging from US$120,000 to US$150,000.
