New polyester reactor technology developed successfully

EMS Inventa-Fisher has developed innovative polyester reactor technology that can reduce raw material consumption for polyester production and increase productivity. This tower reactor, called ESPRE, reduces conversion costs by 26%, increases sales revenue by 22%, and improves polyester quality. The reactor can be flexibly used for PET, PTT, PEN and PBT and their copolyesters.
In the new process, esterification and polycondensation are carried out at the same time under reduced pressure and temperature conditions, which are favorable for the reaction. The use of reaction gas or inert gas to complete the mutual mixing, avoiding mechanical mixing, the reaction system automatically. By using the reaction system of the new reactor, by-products and dead zones of the reaction can be avoided, and at the same time, an optimized molecular weight distribution can be achieved.
At present, in addition to the existing new technology set of one ton/day for medium-sized devices, three new polyester devices use new reactor technology, Germany’s 240 ton/day device is under construction, and the Netherlands’ 180 ton/day device is at the foundation. At the engineering stage, the 120-ton/day facility in Taiwan, China, has decided to use this reactor.
