Japan launches polyethylene lactate plastic film

Japan’s Taiyang Industrial Co., Ltd. has developed a new type of packaging material—polyethylene lactic acid plastic film—from the concept of “plants for plants” as the raw material for the film. The special packaging film, packaging bag, shallow dish, and packaging box made of this kind of packaging material have won the honorary title of Japan's green plastic products.

Compared with conventional packaging materials, this new type of packaging material not only has degradable, but also has transparency that is not inferior to that of PP, and it is better in moisture permeability and oxygen permeability. Its superior transparency can improve the display effect of vegetables and fruits in the shop, and the good breathability makes the product more durable.

Taiyang Industrial Co., Ltd. started to research degradable packaging materials in October 2004 after it successfully promoted degradable agricultural films. After the use of the corn resin material developed by u-NITIKA Co., Ltd., the mass production of this new packaging material became possible.

In February 2005, bulk wholesalers selling colored peppers in Kumamoto started using color printed bags made of this material. As of July of the same year, some large-scale sales chain stores and life cooperative organizations have also adopted such bags in succession. The concept of “packaging plants from plants with kings” has also been highly evaluated in the market and has become a hot spot in the Japanese packaging industry. In addition to colored peppers, combinations of trays and packaging films suitable for packaging small tomatoes are also used. Taiyang Industrial Co., Ltd. is also providing corresponding solutions to other large enterprises and farmers to sell this environmentally friendly packaging.
