Italy push PET scrap material recovery system

One advanced technology introduced in Italy is the PET scrap recycling system developed by Comac. The system is used to recycle PET bottle waste and can produce semi-finished products such as compounding materials and sheets, filaments, etc. continuously.

The main requirement is to maintain the viscosity of the polymer to make full use of its basic characteristics, to ensure excellent mechanical properties and appearance characteristics during thermoforming or other processing. For example, the sheet should maintain its tensile strength and transparency.

After processing, PET dry blanks lose their viscosity when they are ready for other processing (including injection molding, excluding extrusion). For this reason, PET can also be used for extrusion to produce quality products if additives are added evenly during the compounding process.

Using the EBC 50 HT model, PET crystallization can be avoided. After the PET has been washed, ground and re-dried, when the residual moisture content reaches 5%, it can also be directly used for extrusion.

This kind of compounding system has many advantages. For a filament yarn line, color change usually takes at least 4 hours to complete. With this compounding system, the toner replacement time can be significantly reduced. Since no pre-drying is required, it is not necessary to provide the equipment required for pre-drying, and it also saves the time required for pre-drying. And avoid separate mixing at the source of low production cycle costs. In fact, the processor does not need to buy the compounding material from the manufacturer, but can directly produce the compounding material and precisely control the product quality. Finally, it should not be forgotten that the PET blank material to be processed, which is to be improved, requires less specialized equipment than the compound. The reason is that the compound must be stored under optimum conditions to maintain product quality.
