New Resin Improves Label Production
Recently, Chevron Phillips Chemical announced that its latest grade of K-resin styrene butadiene copolymer (SBC) has been put on the market. The new K-resin RK54 SBC material allows consistent shrink labels at low temperatures, while maintaining a high degree of transparency, gloss and hardness, and the yield of this recyclable resin is also 20% higher than other shrink sleeve labels. ~ 30%, that is, more labels can be made per pound of resin. In addition, with proper surface treatment, films made with RK54 SBS can be well matched with flexographic or gravure inks for solvent-based inks.
