How to choose printing equipment lubricants? What are the selection methods for printing equipment lubricants?

Grease and lubricating oil are mainly used in the daily operation and maintenance of printing equipment. Printing equipment needs different types of lubricating oil according to different machine parts. Commonly, there are chain oil, wind pump oil or gear box oil. and many more.

Different types of lubricants can play different roles in printing equipment, so it is especially important in the selection of lubricants. What are the methods for selecting lubricants for printing equipment?

1, viscosity

According to the fluidity of the oil at constant temperature, it is generally used in the printing machine 68, 150, 320 and other viscosity lubricants are classified by iso, the higher the number, the greater the viscosity. The viscosity index is the rate of change of the viscosity of the lubricating oil over a known temperature range. The oil with a low viscosity index indicates a corresponding change in viscosity to temperature. Conversely, a high viscosity index oil indicates a small change in viscosity versus temperature.

2, antioxidant

Lubricating oils are complex hydrocarbons that, when exposed to air and heat, slowly combine with the oxygen in the air to alter their chemical nature, resulting in unsuitable lubrication. The slow combination of oil and oxygen becomes oxidation, and the product is called an oxide. When changing the lubricating oil, it is not difficult to find that the tar and the new oil are changed greatly when the oil is replaced. In addition, the impurities found in the oil compartment are more certain that the lubricating oil loses the normal lubricating function due to oxidation. The choice of high oxidation resistance oil can extend the oil change time, reduce the erosion of mechanical seals, and reduce the oil leakage of the press. Because the oxidized engine oil becomes sour and hardens the seal, the possibility of oil leakage from the printing machine increases.

3, wear resistance

Under the high power microscope, the contact faces of the two iron blocks actually show that numerous small peaks and valleys are mutually restrained to prevent each other from sliding freely. If there is oil in between, the valley is filled and the restraint of each other is released. The iron can easily slide off the bottom piece. This phenomenon is sufficient to show that the lubricating oil reduces wear and the high-wearing lubricating oil contains additives that are more fully filled on the metal, so that the parts are more adequately protected. Secondly, through the reduction of friction, the components in the printing press have a longer service life.

4, water-off

If water is mixed into the lubricating oil, an emulsion will be formed, and the lubricating properties will be poor. The water-based lubricating oil can be automatically separated from the water after mixing with water and for a period of time. This property is called demulsibility, and the oil and water are rapidly separated, indicating that the lubricating oil has good demulsibility and vice versa. When the lubricating oil is agitated and pumped in the printing press, the moisture in the air is combined with the lubricating oil, resulting in an emulsion having poor lubricity. The choice of a highly water-repellent lubricant allows sufficient protection of the components in the machine and reduces the chance of oxidation.
