Basel Introduces HDPE Chrome Catalyst

Italy's Basel Polyolefins has industrialized a new chromium-based catalyst production line, Adrent C, for the production of high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
According to Basel's dedicated license and catalyst manager, Adrent C can be used directly as a replacement for titanium-based catalysts in gas phase and goblet processes. The use of this new type of catalyst in the gas phase or slurry process does not require the addition of special equipment. This chromium-based catalyst can produce a wide molecular weight distribution of HPDE in a one-step process, whereas a titanium-based catalyst requires two stages to obtain such a product.
He said that the Adrent C catalyst consists of a chromium-impregnated carrier with porous silica, which is calcined at high temperature under oxidizing conditions. The chromium content is less than 10×10-12. Since chromium is embedded in the polymer, it will not be affected by water. Extract it. In addition, chromium is present at a Cr3+ price and is not considered to be a harmful substance by the European Community. And the new catalyst price is not higher than titanium catalysts.
