In 1999, the annual output value of the packaging industry was 2020 billion yuan, of which 11.89 million tons were for paper packaging, accounting for 56%, 4.26 million tons for glass packaging, accounting for 20%, 3.18 million tons for plastic packaging, accounting for 15%, and 1.9 million tons for metal packaging, accounting for 9 %, the output value of packaging materials per 10,000 tons rose to 0.95 billion yuan.

In 2000, the output value of the packaging industry was 220 billion yuan, of which paper packaging was 13 million tons, accounting for 56.5%, glass packaging 4.52 million tons, accounting for 19.7%, plastic packaging 3.43 million tons, accounting for 14.9%, and metal packaging 2.05 million tons, accounting for 8.9% The output value of packaging materials per 10,000 tons is 905.6 million yuan.
