1. Non-shaft drive technology will gradually replace the traditional shaft drive
At this exhibition, both KBA and Heidelberg have introduced shaftless transmission printing equipment. The advantages of shaftless transmission are mainly manifested in the following aspects: First, it is completely based on the addition of gear transmission, eliminating oil lubrication and reducing machine noise. Second, it can reduce the auxiliary time. When one unit is printing, the other can be stopped. The third version is that the non-shaft transmission can make the machine control highly automated, so that the combination between the units becomes more simple and flexible, so as to meet the needs of different customers. At this exhibition, companies such as KBA launched a waterless offset web printing press with a maximum printing speed of 80,000 copies/hour. Its characteristics are mainly reflected in the following aspects: First, to completely eradicate the water wetting mechanism, making the ink path control more simple, without considering the ink-water balance; second, greatly reduce the height of the printing press. The height of the web offset press is a big problem for users. Since the water path is eliminated, the height of the press can be greatly reduced. The same tower structure, the same degree can be reduced to less than half of the original height; third is to completely eradicate the failure caused by water expansion caused by paper tension changes, so that the quality of printed products has been greatly improved. 3. The rubber roller gap is further reduced
Reducing the gap of the blanket cylinder has always been an important technology of web offset press. Reducing the gap of the blanket cylinder can reduce the vibration of the machine and improve the quality of printed products. Major manufacturers have done some work in this area. Mitsubishi's squeegee nip has been reduced to 6.6mm.
4. Seamless rubber roller technology developed successfully
During the exhibition, Heidelberg introduced a new technology for seamless rubber rollers. The biggest advantage of using this technology is that the blanket cylinder can achieve full dynamic balance, which is very important to ensure the stable operation of the machine. The use of this technology requires the blanket itself to be cylindrical, which places new demands on the manufacturing process of the blanket. However, if the manufacturer does not provide this technology or spare consumables, this technology will not be widely available in the near future.
5. Automatic versioning technology has become popular
Self-supported version technology was originally used on sheet-fed offset presses. At this exhibition, many web offset presses were equipped with automatic printing mechanisms. Compared to flat offset printing presses, automatic printing has its unique advantages in web offset printing presses, especially commercial web offset printing presses. Komori and other manufacturers use automatic versioning technology, changing the eight editions in only 90 seconds, so that the production efficiency has been significantly improved. Automatic printing technology will be widely used in the web printing industry.
6. Digital web presses available
In the exhibition, DICOweb launched by Manroland is a representative of web digital presses. It uses thermal transfer imaging technology to image directly on a platen roller, and the production time of each plate is not longer than 10 minutes. With this technology, it is possible to ensure the quality of the printed product without replacing the printing plate and film, and at the same time saving a lot of auxiliary time and improving productivity. Digital web printing presses are particularly suitable for printing short-run products. Their operation is simple and convenient. Therefore, they will occupy a certain market in the field of commercial web printing.
7. No ink adjustment
Ink adjustment is one of the most frequent operations. The inkless key adjustment technology introduced by KBA on its waterless offset printer completely solves the ink adjustment problem. The core of this technology is the use of an anilox roller, which uses the webbing above it for ink and ink distribution.
8. Using double width rollers to increase printing efficiency
Two double rollers can be used to print two sheets at a time, so that the speed of the machine can reach more than 80,000 sheets per hour, while the typical web printing press has a printing speed of 40,000 sheets per hour. The use of large drums imposes stricter requirements on the installation of printing plates, and special bending mechanisms must be provided to solve the positioning problems of printing plates. In recent years, big newspapers at or above the provincial level have updated their equipment, but almost all of them have imported advanced foreign equipment. Compared with foreign advanced printing equipment, our web presses still have a certain gap between quality and reliability. To improve the technical level of home-made web printing presses, we must unswervingly follow the path of introducing technology or joint ventures.
