Due to the excellent properties of polypropylene itself, it is used to obtain microporous membranes by deep processing, which combines the efficient separation of functional membranes and the excellent mechanical properties of plastic films. The average pore size of the membrane is between 300 and 800 angstroms, which is a small pore size relative to the common microporous membrane. It can completely block a variety of bacteria larger than 0.2-0.5μ and dust more than 0.1μ, and even part of the larger virus, so the microporous membrane has a wide range of applications.
1) Medical Field The medical field has high requirements for the performance, accuracy, and safety of membrane materials used. Polypropylene microporous membrane has the characteristics of non-toxicity, good gas permeability and excellent biocompatibility. It is an ideal medical device and medical membrane. Mainly used for artificial kidney dialysis apparatus (membrane aperture 50-100 angstroms), artificial lung membrane oxygen is reasonable (membrane pore size (600-700 angstroms), electrocardiograph, etc.
Due to its small pore size, polypropylene microporous membranes are also commonly used in sterile filtration and aseptic packaging as well as industrial and military disposable protective clothing. It can also be used in anti-pollution devices in textile mills, in addition to soot, air enrichment and other devices.
4) Films for Food Industry Since polypropylene materials have high mechanical strength, acid resistance, alkalinity, and chemical resistance, the surface tension after corona treatment is increased, thereby improving the hydrophilic properties, and thus can be used as an excellent water treatment. The membrane can be used to prepare beverage water, pharmaceutical water, and ultrapure water, which are widely used in the food industry for the beer industry, fermentation industry, and plant protein processing. At the same time can be used for desalination, industrial wastewater treatment, dilute ammonia recovery.
5) Other industrial films:
In addition to the above uses, it can be used as a membrane for gas separation, a membrane for gas concentration, and a membrane for ion exchange such as a membrane electrolysis membrane (saline electrolysis), a liquid membrane support membrane, an ultrafiltration membrane, and the like.
6) Breathable waterproof membrane:
In addition to the above uses, microporous membranes have an extremely wide range of functions in daily life. Can be made of breathable rain cloth, raincoat, can be used as industrial, hospital and military protective clothing, but also can be used for food, agricultural and sideline products packaging, use its packaging vegetables, fruits, food, meat and flowers, that is, breathable, but also Preserve water and reduce condensation and bacteriostatic and antiseptic. It can automatically adjust the balance of gas, so as to achieve the purpose of preservation and prolong the shelf life of fresh products. Microporous membrane has a broad application prospect in the preservation of fruits and vegetables.

China's scientific research units have mastered the processing technology of microporous membranes, but there is still a long way from mass production. At present, China's use of film basically relies on imports.
