10 common rules for perfect design of digital printing
First, digital printing design
The greatest advantage of digital printing is its handling of the original, which maximizes the use of the original. Color digital printing can achieve offset printing quality when copying originals. If digital printing cannot handle good manuscripts, start with a high-quality manuscript, scan with the right pixels, and use high-quality scanners, often at 300ppi. Get satisfactory results. Since it is not offset, it should also pay attention to its bright and dark tone.
Second, careful selection of printing materials - paper
Digital printing is not like offset printing; it usually cannot use the same kind of paper. In-di go E—The press requires pretreatment of the paper. Xeikon-based presses use web paper, not all paper rolls. It is important to remember that this type of paper must be able to hold a negative charge. A smooth, extremely valuable white paper is the best choice for digital printing. Since the glazing agent cannot be adhered or wiped off consistently, the recycled material can be prevented from being damaged, and the humidity can also destroy the reproduction of the color. Also, keep in mind that before the job runs, make sure that there is enough paper in the building for at least 24 hours.
Third, positioning and registration
We must always know the design and positioning unit, pay attention to the special machine's automatic duplex feature, and test the multiplex project to ensure acceptable results. The Xeikon press prints both sides at the same time, so that a good front-to-back positioning can be achieved. If you find bleeding, you need to use a larger size.
Fourth, pay attention to remove the stain (spot)
Digital printing cannot print dot colors (except for the 6-color version of Indigo). Using the PATONETM Spot-to-CMYK chart to find CMYK's equivalent colors, you can produce reasonable substitutes for many PANTONETM colors. A very thick polish (hybrid) covering method often exhibits a glow phenomenon that looks like metallic ink.
V. Observing the Field and Overprinting
On the equipment based on color reproduction, large-area field printing is the most common problem. They may be due to changes in the charge on the paper surface and the charge itself. To a certain extent, the electrostatic charge on the surface of a sheet of paper has also changed, resulting in streaks and inconsistent colors on solid blocks, which will not occur in the updated system. Create noise in the field by using Photoshop or other software. Compared with old printing presses, this problem rarely occurs on new presses. Conversely, if you want to get a large area of black solid, use a thick black ink composed of a yellow, blue, blue, and blue ink. It is recommended to work with your supplier to find and find the best ratio of inks. Try tinting at 60C, 40M, 40Y, 100K or 40C, 20M, 20Y, 100K, using all four colors, not just the C ink used in offset printing.
Digital printing can operate from 400 to 600 dots/in, mimicking the hue points by creating a grid. Since starting from a dot with fewer originals, the grid is limited in size by the selected tone line and the amount of available dots. If only a limited amount of available shading is available, then a smooth transition in the overall tone and blend color is difficult, adding noise (in Photoshop) allows some less dramatic changes in the digital printing device, Observe its overprint color from dark tone to bright tone.
Sixth, observe the monitor (monitor)
The color range of the image displayed on the monitor is wider than that of digital printing, and the proofing equipment, such as inkjet proofing, has a high resolution. Epson inkjet proofing can be proofed at 720 dpi or 1440 dpi. It is best to proof on the machine, copy production, and make color blocks for printing or proofing to correct color. Of course, the advanced, advanced color management system is also a good solution. At present, some vendors have been able to provide an advanced color management system.
Seven, choose the right software
Software such as Quark Xpress, Adobe, Indesign Photo shop, FreeHand, and Il-lustrater, each software is slightly different in color, if the same color is generated in Illustrater FrerH and Photoshop and then imported into Pagemaker or In Ouark Xpress, transforming all artwork into CMYK's color space will not simply match the colors of the three units and if necessary, adjust the color to the color balance. Avoid text processing and RGB graphics like Microsoft PowerPoint. Text processing tends to only work in the RGB color space. RIP will instantly need to convert RGB colors and may not give you the desired color.
Eight, collect products
To ensure that all fonts and connected graphic files are included (and do not embed graphics by cutting and pasting) and save the file in the appropriate format, digital printing companies prefer to use the page to describe Type 1 fonts. You can provide the service provider with a file in Adobe PDF format.
Nine, immediately after processing
Digital press products can create problems during the stapling phase, that is, problems such as curling of the paper or roughness of the paper particles. Luster, unlike ink, is present on the surface of the paper and cannot be absorbed. When folded, the polish is prone to breakage at the creases, so the printed design of the creases must be avoided, or use high light tones in the creased area or at least detect the particle size of the paper to reduce the degree of cracking. If the print is a book, When registering a sheet of paper, register positioning is a problem, and the graphic part cannot exceed the post code. Special care must be taken or careful considerations to avoid overwriting part of the text and avoid over-tight registration, allowing a range of up to 1/8 in. If thick paper, graphic and creases must be ensured within the paper signatures, not the signatures, in order to reduce the cracking of paper and polish. Better performance printers can handle these conventional potential problems. . If your product requirements are very detailed, you must carefully select the digital printer and carefully examine the product print (sample) printed by the digital printer.
Ten, learn more about product equipment
In most cases, you cannot design a variable print job and send it to any service provider. You should be very careful to know what the device can and cannot do. Then design the job according to its various limitations.
