Gloucester builds record breaking film production line

The production line Battenfeld Gloucester Engineering Co. Inc. is building may break the layer record: a 17-layer cast film line that includes 9 extruders that produce food barrier films.

The company spokesperson German Laverde said that so far, Battenfeld Gloucester's most versatile equipment is a set of 11-layer cast lines for the production of stretch film.

Laverde said that this huge production line will begin in the United States in the first half of this year, a customer in the production of food packaging barrier film. However, the current machine manufacturer cannot disclose the name of the customer.

Laverde said that the machine can produce both deep drawn formed films and high barrier films for soft bags and aseptic food packaging.

The line will include the company's 1011 S-type winder, based in Gloucester, capable of rewinding film on raised steel cores or cardboard cores on steel lift pneumatic reels.
