Thirteen furniture companies failing to cut corners and manufacturing quality

In China, which has a reputation as a "world furniture factory," the ability to make furniture should be impeccable. However, the results of the recent inspections by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Quality Supervision showed that 13 Beijing furniture companies failed to qualify for the “black list” due to the basic requirements of woodworking, mechanical properties, and metal materials. Furniture companies have fallen into the quality door in the manufacturing process, and people have to wonder: What is wrong with this?

13 companies on the "black list"

On June 17, the “2013 Announcement on the Quality Status of Consumer Products for Daily Use of Wood Furniture in Beijing Production Area (Phase III)” issued by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision showed that 13 wood furniture and software furniture enterprises were on board. The unqualified list, most of which are due to the basic requirements of woodworking requirements, mechanical properties, metal parts and materials are not up to standard.

The Beijing Business Daily reporter found on the unqualified list that there were 4 companies that were found to be unqualified by the bedside table, namely Beijing Haixiang Weiye Furniture Co., Ltd., Beijing Times Xinchuang Furniture Co., Ltd., Beijing Huangcun Yongfeng Furniture Factory, Beijing North. The Xincun Xinshun Furniture Factory was planted in the “Unqualified Woodworking Requirements” indicator. There are 5 unqualified sofas, including Beijing Youbang Furniture Co., Ltd., Beijing Chunzhijia Furniture Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Beijing Meicheng Furniture Co., Ltd., Beijing Oujia Yas Furniture Factory, Beijing Knock Furniture Co., Ltd. In addition to the fact that the sofas that were sampled by Beijing Oujia Yas Furniture Factory were not up to standard due to the requirements for internal wooden materials, the other four companies all had the problem of “failed metal materials”. In addition, a total of three companies on the unqualified list were blacklisted due to the unsuccessful push-pull cabinets, namely Beijing Yuming Furniture Factory, Beijing Wancheng Yonghua Furniture Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Beijing Huangcun Eternal Furniture Factory. The reason for the "black list" is that the stability is not satisfactory.

Known as the "world furniture factory", China has frequent problems in the basic requirements of furniture production. It is inevitable that this is what is going on?

Unqualified due to cut corners

For the 13 companies whose basic production requirements are not up to the “black list”, Yu Xiusu, vice president and secretary general of the Beijing Furniture Industry Association, expressed shock: “The requirements for woodworking, mechanical properties and metal materials are the most basic. The requirements are all clearly stated in the national standards. Enterprises can't do this, which is simply indifferent to market supervision."

Luo Wei, executive deputy director of the National Furniture and Indoor Environmental Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, believes that these basic requirements will bring hidden dangers to consumers during the use process. "The woodworking requirement refers to the problem of material processing, such as the sealing of the edge. On the side, it may cause the release of formaldehyde to exceed the standard." The Beijing Business Daily reporter also found on the unqualified list that most of the products that failed in the woodworking requirements also had the problem of excessive formaldehyde emission.

For problems with mechanical properties, Luo Wei believes that this is more related to many safety issues. "Mechanical properties can be divided into durability and stability. Durability is related to the service life of the product. For example, the drawer that meets the standard can be pulled 20,000 times. If it does not reach the standard 10,000 times, it will be broken. Stability is related to the user's personal safety, product The stability is not good, even if it is bad, it will bring great security risks to consumers."

The basic requirements stipulated by the state are not up to standard, and there are so many hidden dangers. Why are manufacturers still taking risks? Xiao Shuisheng, general manager of Beijing Oujianyi Industry & Trade Co., Ltd. bluntly said that this is because manufacturers cut corners and cut the material, which is very indifferent to national standards. Luo Wei also said that some manufacturers are more relaxed about their own requirements, do not strictly enforce national standards; some are in order to sell cheaply in the market, deliberately save production costs, so play on the basic requirements.

Experts suggest careful channels

In the investigation, the Beijing Business Daily reporter learned that these companies that have failed to meet the basic requirements for the “black list” are also sold in well-known stores.

For example, the bedside table of Beijing Haixiang Weiye Furniture Co., Ltd. was sold at Wanjia Denghua North Fourth Ring Store; the sofa of Beijing Chunzhijia Furniture Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was sold at Jimei Yiyuan Home Plaza; the sofa of Beijing Nok Furniture Co., Ltd. Once sold in the Chengjiao Plaza in the city. When the Beijing Business Daily reporter called these companies, they all said that these products are old-fashioned and are now off the shelves.

Ordinary consumers rely on the surface alone to judge whether the basic requirements of the product are up to standard, how to avoid buying unqualified products? Luo Weizhi Zhao said: "First of all, we must look at the product quality inspection report to see if it is written. Secondly, we should communicate with the merchants and ask for details such as materials. Third, try to buy 'noisy cards' as carefully as possible. Actually, this kind of home store with multiple after-sales guarantees can be purchased. Even if there is a problem, the rights can be guaranteed.” Yu Xiusu also believes that in addition to paying more attention when consumers buy, the store is the first person in charge. The admission brand should be audited, and its quality inspection report should be reviewed. It should even go to the factory to see if it is actually fulfilled, thus maximizing the purification of market space.
